SHS names athletes of month
The Swanton High School Athletes of the Month for October are seniors Danielle Bezeau and Brett Zedlitz. These athletes were chosen by the administration of SHS based upon leadership, personal character, and athletic achievement during the month of October. This honor may be bestowed on any athlete in grades 9-12 based upon this criteria.
Bezeau is the daughter of Renee Bezeau and Don Bezeau of Swanton. During her four years at Swanton High School she has been involved in volleyball, basketball, track, and softball. In her free time, Danielle can be found hanging out with her friends, watching, supporting other Swanton Athletic Events, and working out.
Her athletic honors include being named the 96.1 and Swanton Welding Athlete of the Week during last basketball season, and was also honorable mention All-NWOAL & District 7 in basketball her sophomore and junior seasons. In volleyball voted 2nd team All-NWOAL this past season.
Head volleyball coach Joe Nye states "Danielle leads by example and would be a player that the younger players in our program should emulate." Her future plans are to attend a four year college and major in Pre-Medicine or Early Childhood Education.
Zedlitz is the son of Tim and Julie Zedlitz of Swanton. During his four years at Swanton High School, he has been involved in golf, basketball, baseball and Show Choir. In his free time, Brett enjoys hanging out with his friends, recording music, and playing paintball.
His past honors include being a four year letterwinner in golf. This past season, he was also named 2nd team All-NWOAL and was a District qualifier in golf. In baseball, Brett was named honorable mention All-NWOAL last season as a Junior.
Head golf coach Jim Chambers says "Brett has been a good role model for the younger golfers both in the manner in which he practiced and in the way that he competed during the matches this past season." Brett's future plans are to attend the University of Toledo and major in Business.
