Lady Dogs shutout

By DREW STAMBAUGH

Enterprise Sports Editor

Unlike many sports, in soccer you can seemingly control most of the match, but still not come away the victor. That is precisely what happened to Swanton Thursday night as they fell to Toledo Christian 1-0.

The Lady Bulldogs (0-3) dominated the second half, but could just not find the net. The ball stayed on Toledo Christian's side of the field most of the half, as Swanton had possession in and around the goal box.

But it was not to be. Jordan Franklin and Kendra Eitniear were among those that came close to scoring, but were shutout by the Eagles.

The lone goal came about 10 minutes into the contest. Kate Worley fired a long shot from the left side of the box that seemed to catch everyone off guard and found the net for a 1-0 Eagle advantage.

That lead would hold as each team came close later in the half. Janelle Berry was close to making it 2-0, but shot wide.

Jackie Wiederman had a good look for Swanton about a minute later, but her shot also when just wide. Eitniear would have a shot deflected off goal and a Courtney Meeks header would be hauled in to keep the Dogs off the board.

Swanton will travel to Central Catholic today, host Start on Thursday and travel to Bowsher on Saturday.
