Mentors of Month honored
Kelley Carmean has been chosen as a STAR Mentor of the month. Carmean donates 3 1/2 hours of her time each week to Reading A-Z. This is her 2nd year as a mentor and says, "Having the opportunity to make a difference in a child's learning and getting to work with the kids is the most rewarding part (of being a mentor)."
She is a stay at home mom for her son Evan who attends first grade at Crestwood Elementary. In her spare time she enjoys Scrapbookingand reading. Thank you Kelly for your dedication. You have made a tremendous difference in many students' lives.
Jodi Gilsdorf has been chosen as November's STAR Mentor of the month. Jodi work as a full time student aid at Crestwood Elementary. She is a mother of three and just celebrated her 15th wedding anniversary.
She has been a mentor for two years and says, "Knowing that I'm helping children become more confident with their reading and hoping they learn to love reading as much as I do (is the most rewarding part of being a mentor)." In her spare time, Jodi enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with her family. Thank you Jodi for your time and efforts with Reading A-Z. Without our mentors our program would not be successful.
Mark Rairigh has been chosen as a STAR Mentor of the month. Mr. Rairigh is Crestwood's physical education teacher. He mentors 1/2 hour each day. This is his first year as a mentor and states, "The most rewarding aspect of mentoring is seeing the students excel and progressively get better everyday, while having fun at the same time."
Rairigh was recently engaged and plans to wed in November 2009. When he is not teaching, he enjoys playing sports, coaching, and spending time with his family and friends. Thank you Mr. Rairigh for making reading fun and lively.
