Penfield Township At-A-Glance
PENFIELD
Richard Conrad and Lloyd Gordon were present for the Oct. 6 regular meeting as well as the fiscal officer and 14 guests.
Following the Pledge of Allegiance, the minutes of the Sept. 15 meeting were read and approved.
* Zoning Inspector Richard Donahue gave a written and oral report.
* Both Jean Eglin and Richard Seymour questioned letters they received about changes from Columbia Gas. It appears that some of the clients were sold to Consumer Gas Co. but that is speculation and no real information is available. Linda Van Meter asked if there was going to be a candidates night preceding the zoning meeting on Oct. 28. The time for this was set at 6:30 p.m.
* Duane Johnson stated the recreation park board will have their annual Halloween party at the park on Oct. 25 from 3:30 p.m. until 5 p.m.
* The property next to the park that the township has been interested in purchasing has been put on the market. Ken Keifer was contacted to be the agent for the township. Conrad explained that it was put on the market for "owner occupied" sale for five days and then on the open market on the fifth. Keifer put the bid in for $85,000, the amount the township authorized earlier and it was accepted the same day. Keifer will give $750 of his commission as a donation to the township. Gordon made the motion, seconded by Conrad the tax rates, as set by the county be accepted. Motion carried.
* Conrad made the motion the bills be paid as presented. Roll call, all yes.
* Conrad made the motion the fiscal officer repay the $5,000 advance to the gas tax fund and the $4,000 advance from the Solid Waste Grant. Roll call, all yes.
* Gordon made the motion line transfers be made of $1,000 to the other hall expenses and $1,000 to other zoning as well as any needed to pay for the property being purchased, Conrad seconded the motion. Roll call, all yes.
* Conrad made the motion to accept the financial report for August. Motion carried.
* The fiscal officer will be attending a year-end class in Columbus. Gordon made the motion, seconded by Conrad her expenses be paid. Motion carried.
* Gordon reported Country House Doctor donated his services to repair the leak in the park. A new light pole will be erected at the parking lot. He said the truck work still hasn't been completed. Political signs must not be on the road right of way and permission must be obtained from the property owner before they are installed, according to the prosecutor.
* After discussion it was decided that the salt/cinder be 50/50 for the roads.
* Conrad said that he, Johnson and Dianna Hartley attended a candidates night in Wellington as candidates for Penfield. With no further business, Gordon made the motion the meeting adjourn at 8:40 p.m.
