Don't censor letters to the editor
To the editor:
I would like to express my opinion on the Wellington Enterprise Editorial in the Oct. 13 edition. It sounds like you are suggesting the letters sent to you should in some way be censored. I am offended by the mere suggestion that you might decide to not print a letter because you feel it is a negative letter. Who would make the decision about what is negative and what is not? Censorship is such an ugly word and takes away our freedom of speech.
I will not be voting for Mr. Calvin Woods on Nov. 3. I feel that he uses bad judgment and makes bad decisions for the residents of Wellington Township. Secrecy has no place in our township government. The attitude that he can do anything he wants doesn't sit well with me. I'm not attacking his character, I'm just expressing my opinion. Is my opinion negative? I guess it depends on who is reading this and what their opinion might be.
Thank you for giving me the space to voice my opinion. God Bless America for giving me this right.
Joan Strickler
Wellington Township
Editor's note: We, most of all, will protect the freedom of speech of every individual. However, some letters -- which have not been published, or have been edited -- have included pure character assassination and libelous statements.
