Ruth Louise
Harris
Ruth Louise Harris, 86, of New London, died Sunday, June 22, 2008 at Fisher Titus Medical Center in Norwalk after a short illness.
She was born Nov. 17, 1921 in Wellington, daughter of the late Earl B. and Lulu (nee Hall) Jameyson. She had lived in Clarksfield until 1985 then moved to rural New London. She was the valedictorian of the graduating class of 1939 at Wellington High School.
She had worked at C.E. Ward and Thomas Creative Apparel both of New London. Mrs. Harris was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wellington, a member of the United Methodist Women, a member of the Wellington McDonald's Coffee Club, and a member of the Farm Bureau. She enjoyed playing cards, sewing, gardening, and dancing and had only missed one Lorain County Fair in 85 years. Mrs. Harris was an avid Cleveland Indians fan and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
She is survived by three sons, Richard (Mary) Harris, Robert (Mary Lou) Harris, all of New London, Jim (Sue) Harris of Monroe, Mich.; her daughter, Rita (Jim) Czerniakowski of Toledo; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lyle (Marion) Jameyson, Howard (Dorothy) Jameyson, and Donald Jameyson, all of Wellington; and her sister, Maxine (Bill) Simonson of Wellington. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Russell Harris in 1998, her grandson, Aaron R. Harris in 1986, her brother, Russell Jameyson, and her sister-in-law, Marilyn Jameyson.
Friends were received on June 25, 2008 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home in Wellington. A memorial service was held on June 26 at the First United Methodist Church of Wellington with Rev. Lea Mahan officiating. A private burial will take place at a later date at the Clarksfield Methodist Cemetery. Baker
Shirley C. "Bud" Baker, 75, of Brighton, and Bradenton, Fla., died from a sudden illness while in Florida.
Mr. Baker graduated in 1952 from Brighton High School. He participated in sports and played the trumpet in the band. He received the Babe Ruth Foundation Sportsmanship Award. Mr. Baker was drafted in 1953 and spent two years in the United States Army.
Besides farming, Mr. Baker was employed as a welder for many years at Thew Shovel in Lorain. He enjoyed looking for arrowheads and interacting with his grandchildren.
Mr. Baker was married to Alberta F. Baker (nee McClellan), also of Brighton, for 43 years. They raised four children: Dean C., Mary K., Martha J., and David C., all of Wellington. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Chad and Clay Broud, David M. and Dylan Baker, and Deanna Baker, all of Wellington. Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Lois Mary Baker (nee Fisher); sister Doree Smith, and brothers Charles and Archibald "Archie" Baker.
