Lyndes-Walker
Wanda L. Lyndes-Walker (nee Jordan), 83, of Elyria died Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at EMH Regional Medical Center. She was born July 22, 1924 in Wellington, graduated from Wellington High School in 1942, and was an Elyria area resident since 1945.
Mrs. Lyndes-Walker had worked at Isaly's Restaurant in Wellington, Howard Johnson's in North Ridgeville, Minutes Greenhouse in North Ridgeville, J.P. Diedrick Greenhouse in North Ridgeville, Botamer's Florist in Elyria and Auto Accessories Credit Union (Fisher Body-GM-Elyria). She started baking and decorating cakes in 1962 and made many wedding, birthday and miscellaneous cakes for 20 years.
She is survived by her daughter; Karen A. Jackson (Daryl Sr.) of Elyria; sons Gerald F. Lyndes (Carolyn) of Mexico, Keith J. Lyndes (Laura) of Lordstown; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and one step great- granddaughter; sisters Phyllis Styer of Medina, Jeannette Walko (Andy) of Penfield; brothers Howard Jordan of Sullivan, Lawrence "Butch" Jordan Jr. (Maxine) of Pahrump, Nev., LeRoy "Pete" Jordan (Sharon) of Pittsfield; she also leaves several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by husbands James F. Lyndes in 1960, and Gerald L. Walker in 1989; her parents Lawrence and Edna (Beam) Jordan; sister Mary L. Settlemire; and brothers Robert and James Jordan.
Friends were received on Sunday, June 22, 2008, at the Bauer-Laubenthal Funeral Home in Elyria where funeral services were held on Monday. Burial will be private at Fields Cemetery in North Ridgeville. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association Northeast Ohio Affiliate, 1689 East 115th St., Cleveland, Ohio, 44106-3988 or to American Diabetes Association 4500 Rockside Rd., Suite 440, Independence, Ohio 44131.
Leona Lucille
Sheffield
Leona Lucille Sheffield, 99, of Wellington died Thursday, June 19, 2008 at the New Life Hospice Center of St. Joseph in Lorain. She was born Oct. 1, 1908 in Seville, Ohio.
Mrs. Sheffield was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, and the Women's Guild. She enjoyed roller skating, playing Yahtzee, riding her bike, baking, animals, riding horses and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her son Paul (Wanda) Sheffield of Brighton, daughters Lois Marie Sheffield of Wellington and Joan Carlyle Quintana of Brighton; nine grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Sheffield, brothers Harry Sugaski, Edward (Pat) Sugaski, Jack Sugaski, Frank Sugaski, sisters Charlotte Murray, Loretta Brasse, Sophia Theumling, Helen Carek Wheatley and Florentine Weimer.
Friends were received on June 22, 2008, at the T.G. Cowling Funeral Home of Wellington. Funeral services were held on June 23 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father James Reymann officiating. Burial was at East Pittsfield Cemetery.
