Harold M.

Norris

Harold M. Norris, former Wellington resident, died Tuesday, July 22, 2008, at Greene Memorial Hospital in Xenia, Ohio, after a brief illness, at the age of 83.

Mr. Norris was born Oct. 4, 1924, in the home of his parents, Mort L. and Sarah Belle Norris south of Wellington. The Norrises lived and farmed in Wellington and Elyria before settling in LaGrange.

Mr. Norris graduated from Elyria High School with the class of 1942. He farmed with his father before taking farm implement repair, factory, and foundry jobs in and around the Elyria/Cleveland area. He started driving truck for LaGrange Screw Products in the early 1960s and became their shipping manager, retiring from LSP after 30 years.

Mr. Norris married Gertrude M. Miller on Sept. 9, 1951. They settled in LaGrange, where together they raised four children. He actively helped found and build Calvary Baptist Church in Oberlin, where he was a member for many years until moving to Florida in 2005. In Florida he joined Agape Baptist Church in Ocala, where he was elected to the position of deacon.

Mr. Norris is survived by his wife of more than 56 years, Gertrude M. (Miller) Norris; children, Judy and Roe Dorsey of Attica, Ohio, John and Pam Norris of Decatur, Ill., Vicki and David Houghton of Ocala, Fla., and David and Trisha Norris of Xenia, Ohio; his sister, Jessie (Norris) Dani of LaGrange, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mort L. and Sarah Belle Norris; brothers Lester, George, and Robert Norris; sister Edna Norris; grandson Michael Dorsey; and great-granddaughter Katelynn Carson.

Friends were received on July 25 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home in Wellington. Funeral services were held on July 26 at the funeral home. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery in Wellington. Online condolences may be made at: norton-eastmanfuneralhome.com.

Lisa Lynn

Brown

Lisa Lynn Brown, 38, of New London, died Wednesday, July 23, 2008, at Elyria Memorial Hospital.

Born in Morehead, Ky., on Sept. 25, 1969, she was a 1988 graduate of Wellington High School and attended the Lorain County Joint Vocational School.

Mrs. Brown worked at Wellington Manor Nursing Home for five years before working as a nurse's aide at Sprenger Retirement Centers in Wellington for 12 years. She had a green thumb and loved gardening. She was also adventurous and enjoyed camping, swimming, canoeing, bike riding, walking, and going on picnics.

Survivors include her husband of 19 years, Jon, her son, Jon Brown Jr., both of New London, and her parents, Judy Wade of Wellington and Thomas Wade of Rossville, Tenn. She is also survived by two brothers, Todd and Brant Wade, and a sister, Lindsey Wade, all of Wellington. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, James and Lovell Lewis and her paternal grandparents, Thomas and Audrey Wade, Sr.

Friends were received on July 28 at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, in Wellington until the time of memorial service.
