Holsey
Rucker Jr.
Holsey Rucker Jr. of Wakeman, brother of Mary Gardner and Helen Ann Hopewell, both of Oberlin, died Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Stein Hospice Care Center in Sandusky following a short illness. He was 64.
Born July 12, 1944, in Oberlin, he served in the US Army Special Forces Division First Battalion Green Berets during the Vietnam War.
He worked in security and fire safety at Ford for 30 years, retiring in 2002. He also served as a police officer in Wellington for seven years.
He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Lorain. He enjoyed raising horses.
Mr. Rucker is survived by his son, Stephen A. Rucker of Bellevue; stepsons Terrance I. Ransom of Oakland, Calif., and John H. Ransom of Atlanta, Ga.; 10 grandchildren; sisters Mary Gardner and Helen Ann Hopewell both of Wellington, and Judy Clayton of Cleveland; stepsister Diane Jones of Oberlin; brothers David Rucker of Oberlin, Arthur Rucker of Elyria, and George Rucker of Lorain; and special friends Diane and Jim Garner of Wakeman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Holsey Rucker Sr. and Mary Gardner.
Private family burial services will be scheduled for a later date. Cowling Funeral Home handled local arrangements.

Roger Lee
Harris
Roger Lee Harris, 71, of Seneca, S.C. and husband of Paula Schmidt Harris, died Saturday, July 12, 2008 at Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca.
A native of Kenton, Ohio, Mr. Harris was the son of Walter Lee and Thelma Josephine Watkins Harris of Florida. Mr. Harris graduated second in his class from General Motors Institute. His course of study was industrial control in the business administration program. In 1960 he earned his bachelor of business degree. He was employed by Dow Chemical. Later, he started his own Injection Molding Company, Mansfield Plastics, Inc. and sold it to Hoover Universal in 1976. Mr. Harris was also a previous owner-operator of Gold Star Spirits in Seneca, S.C.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Harris is survived by daughter, Christine Ann Queen and husband, Jack of Crestline, Ohio, and Karen Sue Skulski of Lexington, Ohio; brother, Michael Dean Harris and wife, Susan of Chicago, Ill., and their son, David Harris of Tallahassee, Fla.; and grandchildren, Nathan and Matthew Queen, Jason Hamilton and Brennan and Marshall Skulski.
A memorial service was conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 19, 2008 at the Chapel of Cottingham Hospice House. An additional service was held at 3 p.m., Monday, July 21, 2008 at the Crestline Church of the Nazarene in Crestline, Ohio.
Interment will be at a later date in Mansfield Cemetery.

Betty Jane
Winfield
Betty Jane Winfield, 87, of Rochester, died Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at The Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at Firelands in New London. She was born March 23, 1921 in Cleveland to the late Orton and Buela (Monn) Wolfe.
Mrs. Winfield was a 1939 graduate of New London High School where she was one of the first inductees into the National Honor Society and she worked at Fair Publishing in Norwalk during the early 1940s.
Mrs. Winfield attended the Rochester United Methodist Church and was a member of the Rochester Guild. She was also a member of the Rochester Historical Society, the Flares, the Rochester Garden Club, the Homemakers Club and she served as an advisor for the Rochester Winning Workers 4-H Club for several years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, bingo and bird watching; she also loved playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her two daughters, Lois (Ron) Baker of Wellington and Jean (James) Speicher of Rochester, 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale in 1970, a brother, Richard P. Wolfe and a half-sister, Bernice Hume.
Friends were received on Thursday, July 17, 2008, at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home in Wellington where funeral services were held Friday with Pastor Christine Bell officiating. Burial followed at the Rochester Cemetery. Carol A.
Davis
Carol A. Davis (Romeis) of Cleveland, formally of Wellington, died Thursday, July 10, 2008.
She was born April 2, 1937, and graduated from Wellington High School with the class of 1955.
Survivors include her son William Scott Davis (Eileen), her daughter Jodi Hoffman (Jim) and brothers Don and Paul (Jack).
She was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Maybelle Romeis and a brother Edward.
Graveside services will be held Friday, July 25, 2008 at Greenwood Cemetery at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Brian Burke officiating.
