April 2, 4:04 p.m.: A mother and her 17-year-old daughter met with Officer Aviles in reference to bullying. The daughter stated she had a problem with a girl from school who had been suspended for revealing her breast piercing. When the girl returned to school the daughter was continuously harassed by her. During lunch the daughter stated they both were in a heated argument when the girl spit in the daughter's face. The daughter reported the incident to two teachers who were supervising. They advised her to go wash her face and then report to the office. Upon reporting to the office and explaining what took place in the lunchroom, the daughter was suspended for two days. It was not known what consequences the other girl received.

April 3, 7:27 p.m.: A man called the WPD to report when he arrived home from work there was a dirt bike on his tree lawn. He had no idea how long it had been there and asked if it could be picked up. A search of CAD and Logs revealed no reports of a lost or stolen bike. Due to the bike not fitting in a cruiser the man brought the bike to the station. The bike was tagged and placed in the basement.

April 5, 10:27 a.m.: Police responded to Prospect Street in reference to a possible domestic disturbance. The woman stated the man had made threats to her earlier in the day. She requested officers to escort her into the residence to retrieve her personal belongings. The man admitted that he made a threatening statement out of anger. He stated that although he made the statement he had no intention to cause any harm. He further advised that he was gathering his belongings and leaving the residence. The woman was agreeable with him leaving the residence and did not wish to pursue the issue any further.

April 5, 3 p.m.: Police were dispatched to Depot Street in reference to a possible domestic dispute in progress. The woman stated the man hit her on the left side of the face and grabbed her left wrist. It was noted there were no red marks or bruising to the areas she indicated. The man said the woman had struck him in the head and poured his beer in his hair. It was also noted the woman had what appeared to be beer covering the front shoulder area of her shirt which she claimed the man had poured on her while they argued. The man also informed police had been hit by the woman during their argument but officers were unable to locate any type of injuries except for a two-inch scratch on his forehead which he declined to say how it had happened. While talking with the subjects, police found the apartment to be very dirty with garbage strewn about the floor, empty beer containers lying on the floor, table and counter, and clothes all throughout the rooms. Both subjects were informed that at this time neither was going to be arrested but if the problems continued possibly one or both would be charged. The woman agreed to leave for at least the evening.

April 6, 6:16 p.m.: Officer Rosecrans was met by a woman and her 13-year-old daughter at the WPD to discuss discipline that was administered to her daughter by her ex-husband's wife. A statement was taken by the daughter who indicated that she had been slapped on the left cheek by her stepmother. It was noted there weren't any marks that could be detected on her face. The mother stated there have been accusations of theft against her daughter. The officer spoke with the father and stepmother. Much discussion was had with the two about punishment options and family interaction.

April 7, 10:28 a.m.: Officer Smosny made contact with a woman in regard to a telephone harassment complaint. She advised the officer that her 17-year-old boyfriend had beat her up the previous evening. She then left the residence they shared in the city of Lorain and went to her parents house in Wellington. During the morning hours her boyfriend called her on her brother's cell phone. During the call the boyfriend threatened to find her and beat her up if she left him. She further advised she received 19 calls in the span of one hour. The victim's statement and report will be forwarded to the Lorain County Prosecutors Office Juvenile Division for possible charges.

April 9, 7:49 p.m.: Officer Aviles observed a vehicle with no visible validation sticker on the rear license plate. A check through LEADS showed the registration expired on May 27, 2007, and the driver had no driving privileges from Oct. 4, 2005 to indefinite. The vehicle was stopped in the Whirlaway parking lot. The driver advised that he was the owner of the vehicle and has not registered the vehicle in his name since he received the vehicle on May 21, 2007. He further advised that the license plates belonged to the original owner, he has no insurance and is under a child support suspension. Cary D. Painter of Wellington, was charged with driving under suspension, failure to file for registration and operating without license plates. He was released after signing a Personal Recognizance for the sum of $6,500 and assigned a court date.

April 12, 12:44 a.m.: Officer Aviles was contacted by dispatch to return to the WPD and meet with a subject who was enroute and needed to speak with an officer about a situation involving a family member. Upon arrival Officer Aviles met with a male who stated he needed an officer to accompany him to pick up his niece who lived in town with her boyfriend.

A check through LEADS indicated his vehicle plates were registered to another vehicle. It was at this time the man was asked for his driver's license to which he stated he didn't have time for this and said, "Never mind I'll just go get my niece myself." After receiving the man's information it was learned that he was under suspension. He was informed of the suspension to which he stated he had the paper work reinstating his driving privileges and that this was all just a mistake.

The man was informed he could ride with the officer to try and locate his niece and leave his vehicle parked at the station. His driving status would be checked later to which the man agreed. On arrival to an Adams Street residence Officer Aviles made contact with a woman who identified herself as the female who wanted to leave. When asked if she had been hit she replied no, she just wanted to leave because she was tired of arguing with her boyfriend. Officer Aviles transported the uncle and niece back to the station and it was at that time that the uncle's driving record was checked.

Kip C. McGraw, 33, of Sullivan was arrested for driving under suspension. He was released on a personal recognizance in the amount of $1,000 and given a court date.

April 13, 1 p.m.: Officer Mason met with a trustee from the Free Will Baptist Church. The trustee advised that he drives the church bus and last weekend someone broke the valve stem off one of the tires causing it to go flat. This is the second tire this year that has been flattened. There are no suspects at this time.

April 13, 1:30 p.m.: Officer Mason was dispatched to High Street in reference to vandalism to an unoccupied residence. The officer observed glass broken out of the back door and an upstairs bedroom with broken glass. Due to being unable to secure the house due to the broken window the realtor had to be contacted.

April 13, 1:51 p.m.: A woman advised Officer Mason that her vehicle was taken from her residence early in the morning by her boyfriend. There were no license plates on the vehicle. The vehicle was located in Lorain by the boyfriend's father who parked it at an unknown location to be recovered at a later time. The woman advised she did not wish to press any charges against her boyfriend.

April 13, 10:29 p.m.: Officer Aviles observed a man who he had spoken to earlier in the evening exit his vehicle at the station and proceed past the officer. When asked why he was driving the man stated he wanted to talk to the officer. Due to his girlfriend being inside the station and to avoid any further incidents, the man was told to stay inside his vehicle. A short time later the man was asked to accompany Officer Aviles inside the station, which he did. The male stated he had driven to the station to report that he was missing a $100 bill from his wallet but was unable to show any proof of the missing money.

James A. Odom, 22, of Wellington was charged with driving under suspension. Odom signed a personal recognizance bond in the amount of $5,000 and given a court date.
