March 9, 10:39 p.m.: Scott A. Plain, 27, of Wellington, was charged for a stop sign violation and operating a vehicle while intoxicated, third offense. He was released on a $2,100 personal bond pending his court date.

March 10, 3:25 a.m.: Officer Davidson observed a stopped train blocking Maygar Street and State Routes 58 and 18. Contact was made with a crew member of the train who advised they were switching tracks and during that process someone had to stand by the switch and secure it when they were done. The railroad employee further advised that normally they have another employee meet them at the switch so that the employee can secure the switch so the train is not delayed by waiting for the crew member to walk from the back of the train to the front. It was noted the three intersections were blocked by the train for 12 minutes, seven minutes longer than the five minute time period allowed by village ordinance 553.01.

March 10, 11:21 a.m.: Officer Shelton was dispatched to Weber Health Care in reference to a patient abuse case. Upon arrival the officer met a woman and the two notified the proper people. It was noted that protocols were set in place four years ago as to giving an 87-year-old female patient her medicine. Protocol was to give the patient her pills in a small cup and the patient takes the pills herself. It was reported that an LPN nurse has pushed the patient's head back by pushing her forehead and put the pills in her mouth. The patient started to choke and became very upset. The patient advised that she wants the other nurses to take care of her as she feels uncomfortable around the LPN.

When meeting with the LPN she confirmed she put her hands on the patient's forehead but stated she was gentle and never meant to hurt her. The LPN was advised from the statements obtained from other co-workers she was going to be charged with patient abuse and an agent from Advocacy at Protective Services was going to sign the charges because they are the legal guardian of the patient. Myra J. Best, 64, of Sullivan, was taken into custody and transported to the WPD for processing. She was charged with patient abuse and released on a $5,000 personal bond.

March 12, 5:38 p.m.: Due to a vehicle being operated while towing another vehicle with no visible plate on back, a traffic stop was conducted. The driver advised Officer Aviles that he just purchased the vehicle and was towing it to Cleveland. A check through LEADS showed the driver had no driving privileges indefinitely, effective January, 2007. Robert Brown, 33, of Cleveland, was charged.

March 13, 10:56 a.m.: Officer Shelton and Chief Rollins were dispatched to East Herrick for a mental person threatening his parents, per the Nord Center. Upon arrival police were met by the parents who stated that their 41-year-old son was upset due to his mother cleaning his room. Their son then shoved his mother and she advised that she was not hurt. It was noted the son suffers from mental complications and is out of control; when the family called the Nord Center they heard the commotion and therefore called police. The 41-year-old was upstairs sitting part-way in his room and hallway when Chief Rollins tried talking him into coming out for about half an hour to no avail. Assistance was requested from the Lorain County Sheriff's Department and shortly after Deputy Smith arrived. When the 41-year-old refused to get up from his chair the police removed him and placed him into restraints. The male refused to walk so contact was made to the SLCAD in request for a stair chair. The male was placed in the chair, taken downstairs and transported by SLCAD to Elyria Memorial Hospital for evaluation.

March 13, 5:51 p.m.: Police met with the Wellington schools superintendent in reference to information he received of a student possibly bringing a gun to school on Friday, March 14. The superintendent advised he was informed by a concerned parent that a 14-year-old student was being picked on by a male student. Several students heard the 14-year-old talking to a female student at school, when he asked her to bring a gun to school on Friday, because the 14-year-old was going to shoot the male.

Officer Bryant met with the female student and her mother at the WPD who stated that the 14-year-old was talking about fighting with the male student. She went on to state that the 14-year-old asked her to bring a gun to school and she told him no, and that he needed the gun because he wanted to "do off with him" (the male student). She again said no and the 14-year-old stated "I'll figure out a way." Officer Bryant met with the 14-year-old and his mother at the WPD where he stated the female student said she was going o bring a gun to school and he stated "I should use it." The officer advised his mother that middle school will be e handling this matter. It was noted that contact was unable to be made to the other student's parents.

On March 14 at 8:41 a.m., the principal and dean of student's of the middle school met with Officer Davidson in reference to this incident. During the earlier complaint both parties were sent home with instructions not to return to the bars for the evening since both were visibly intoxicated. While speaking with the woman the male yelled from the vehicle that he only returned to retrieve his checkbook. The male was told several times to stop yelling.
