Help us help others

We have a lot of office space at The Enterprise. Not so long ago, our quarters were pretty tight, but our office at 119 W. Herrick Avenue is very spacious...we need something to fill it up. How about food?

We at The Enterprise are issuing a holiday challenge: We need to fill the shelves at Well-Help so Well-Help can serve our friends and neighbors in need. They need non-perishable food items, as well as cash donations, to fill their coffers. Their need is greater than ever, and we suspect that need will grow under the pressure of this depressing economy.

People last year who donated are in need of some assistance this year. The new year will be just as difficult, and there is no reason in a country as fortunate as ours, and a community as wonderful as Wellington, that any child, adult, senior citizen or family should go without food and essential hygiene products.

We at The Enterprise are issuing two challenges: One to our readership and all community residents, and one to our faithful advertisers and local business folks.

We will place a nice big basket in the foyer at The Enterprise office and we are asking business people in this village to fill it with anything they have to donate this holiday season: Gift certificates for food or services, merchandise such as shampoos, teddy bears, candles, dried flower arrangements, toys, anything that can be brought in the front door. Whatever it is, we'll put it in the biggest gift basket we can create.

We ask residents to bring non-perishable food items and personal hygiene items to The Enterprise office, with hopes we can fill every space to the brim. Anytime a food item, or cash donation is brought to us to benefit Well-Help, the donor's name will be placed in a raffle for a chance to win the giant gift basket which we know will be overflowing with merchandise.

The name of each merchant who donates something to our gift basket will also be placed in a raffle.

We'll draw the name of a winner during a holiday open house at The Enterprise on Wednesday, Dec. 17. We will also pull the names of 10 second place winners who will receive a year subscription to The Enterprise to keep or give as a gift.

And one lucky merchant will receive a free 30-inch ad in The Enterprise to be used in 2009.

Let's get in the giving spirit together. Let's help Well-Help help our community.
