Hastings
Anna Hastings (Moskal), 90, of Wellington, died Sept. 15, 2008 at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain following a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 19, 1917 in Lorain, moving to Wellington in the 1920s. She lived most of her life in Huntington before returning to Wellington 14 years ago.
Mrs. Hastings worked as a grocery store clerk in Huntington for 20 years retiring in 1979. Prior to that, she worked at Good-All in Lorain.
She had attended the United Church of Huntington where she was a member of the Ladies Fellowship. She enjoyed sports, bowling and playing cards. In 1937, Mrs. Hastings was the pitcher for a Good-All baseball team in Lorain that had won the Lorain County championship.
Surviving are her sons, Loren "Stub" of Ashland, and Doug of Huntington; a daughter, Ann "Midge" Liles of Sheffield Lake; 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Loren in 1987, a daughter, Diane Hastings in 1946; parents, Michael Moskal and Anna (Szatkowski) Moskal one of the founders of Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, Lorain; brothers, John Moskal in 1956, Michael Moskal in 1966, and Alton Moskal in 1999; sisters, Julia Serfozo in 1984, and Mary Yepko in 2001.
Funeral service was held Sept. 17 at Dovin Funeral Home in Lorain where a Parastas service was held. Rev. Fr. Basil Stoyka, pastor of Saints Peter and Paul Orthodox Church officiated.

Charlotte E.
Newberger
Charlotte E. Newberger, 91, of Holiday, Fla., and formerly of Wellington, died Sept. 11, 2008, at Tarpan Bayou Center in Florida after a one-year illness. She enjoyed sewing and watching her great-grandchildren show animals at four different county fairs.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, LaVerne Newberger; two sons, Gerald Arnold of Medina and Jack Arnold of Wellington; and three stepchildren, Randall, Dale, and Melody. Mrs. Newberger is also survived by six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
No services will be held. Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, Wellington, assisted the family with notices.
