DAN J. DRUGA of Amherst, was named to the dean's list for the August, 2009, session at the University of Northwestern Ohio College of Technologies. He is the son of Robert and Susan Druga.

The following students are members of the Ashbrook Scholar program at Ashland University: JOHN HAGLUND and TIMOTHY HAGLUND, both of Idlewood Drive. They are the sons of Diane and Thomas Haglund and are majoring in history.

The John M. Ashbrook Center for Public Affairs, created in the name of the late congressman, seeks to promote the study, research and discussion of the principles and practices of American constitutional government and preparation of students for careers in the public and private sector. Ashbrook Scholars are selected on the basis of academic and personal merit and are required to maintain a 3.0 grade point average.

The Ashbrook Center sponsors a year-long series of lectures that has featured speakers such as William Bennett, Jeanne Kirkpatrick and Lynne Cheney. The scholars also participate in the Center's Memorial Dinner, which has hosted such distinguished speakers as Ronald Reagan, George Bush and Margaret Thatcher. In addition, Ashbrook Scholars have opportunities for summer internships in their fields of study or interest.

Some previous internships have been with the Ohio Republican Party, the Vatican in Rome, the White House and the Ohio General Assembly.
