Police Blotters for Oct. 14
Sept. 20, 12:25 a.m.: Officer Michael Taliano observed a driver playing loud music which violates the city's noise ordinance while parked in front of the Speedway gas station, 712 N. Leavitt Rd.
As the officer approached the driver, identified as 20-year-old Anthony Lucky, he was found to be in an intoxicated state and in possession of an open bottle of liquor.
Lucky was charged with underage consumption, open container, disorderly conduct while intoxicated and playing loud, excessive music.
Sept. 20, 2:21 a.m.: Officer Michael Taliano initiated a traffic stop on Pearl Street for a miscellaneous traffic violation.
The driver, Vincent Gunnoe and his 15-year-old male passenger, were found to be in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Gunnoe was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and running a stop sign. His juvenile passenger was also arrested and charged with drug abuse, possession of marijuana and violating his curfew.
Sept. 20, 7:36 p.m.: Officer Josh McCoy was traveling on Cooper Foster Park Road when he observed the driver of a red Dodge Intrepid turn in to the far outside lane of Leavitt Road, rather than the inside lane which is required by law.
McCoy pulled behind the vehicle, driven by Terrence Donald, and initiated a traffic stop on the service road leading to Motel 6.
After receiving Donald's permission to search his vehicle, the officer found marijuana and crack cocaine on him.
He was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and turning at an intersection.
Donald was then transported to the Lorain County Jail to await his arraignment date at Oberlin Municipal Court.
Sept. 26, 2:34 a.m.: Officer Jacob Perez assisted officers Michael Taliano and Devin Small downtown in front of the Mermaid's Tale with several intoxicated males.
As Taliano was dealing with one of the individuals, a man identified as Corey Rose became belligerent with the officer.
After making some profane remarks and raising his middle finger toward Taliano, Perez grabbed his left shirt sleeve and escorted Rose toward the back of his cruiser. As he was doing this, Rose continued his persistent disorderly behavior which resulted in a short struggle.
Rose was placed in handcuffs and charged with disorderly conduct while intoxicated, disturbing the peace, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, persisting.
Sept. 27, 2:10 a.m.: Officer Michael Taliano saw an altercation between two males on Church Street, just south of RC's Brewhouse.
As the officer approached the two men, D'Mari Campbell assaulted the other man involved. According to the police report, Campbell had to be physically separated from the other individual and was tasered by police.
He was charged with assault, disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct while intoxicated and disorderly conduct, persisting.
Sept. 27, 10:35 p.m.: Officer Michael Taliano was dispatched to the department's front lobby regarding a harassment complaint.
A woman told the officer her daughter was receiving harassing phone calls and text messages from another juvenile female.
Taliano proceeded to contact all the parties involved and advised them to refrain from any form of further contact with each other. If they did not comply with the officer's directive, telephone harassment and menacing charges could be filed against the other female involved.
Sept. 29, 12:52 a.m.: Officer Troy Donaldson was traveling on Crosse Road when he saw a Norfolk Southern train blocking the railroad crossing.
According to the police report, the train did not move for more than 20 minutes and at no time during this period of time was the roadway cleared to allow stopped motorists to pass.
Donaldson cited the railroad company for blocking a roadway, which is a first degree misdemeanor. A copy of both the citation and the affidavit were mailed to Norfolk Southern's corporate office showing a court date of Friday, Oct. 23 at Oberlin Municipal Court.
Oct. 2, 10:30 p.m.: Officer Michael Taliano was dispatched to Marion L. Steele High School, 450 Washington St., regarding an assault complaint which took place during the Homecoming football game.
The officer gathered statements as part of his investigation in the incident. As a result, a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old female were arrested and charged with one count each of assault and complicity to assault.
Oct. 3, 3:04 a.m.: Officer Michael Taliano was on routine patrol when he saw the driver of a vehicle make several traffic violations as he traveled on Cooper Foster Park Road.
After initiating a traffic stop, the driver, identified as James Davis, was found to be intoxicated and in possession of open liquor containers while behind the wheel.
Davis was arrested and charged with OVI, having a blood alcohol limit over the .08 percent state legal limit, failure to drive within marked lanes and weaving the course.
