Redmen golf split tri-meet

FOSTORIA -- The Redmen golf team helped Bellevue complete the sweep of Fostoria on Tuesday night by beating the Fostoria Redmen 160-171 at Lakeland Golf Club, but the Bellevue Redmen lost to Shelby by two strokes 158-160.

"It's always tough when you get that close to beating a very good team, but can't quite get over the hump," said Redmen coach Jan TerVeen.

"I wasn't happy that we lost, but I was very pleased with the way the guys played. Cory had a great round at one over par and Evan, Taylor and Sam chipped in with solid scores to finish the scoring," TerVeen said.

Junior Cory Marvin led the Redmen with a score of 36.

Evan Radloff and Taylor Radloff both added scores of 41.

Sam Strayer stroked a score of 42 to round out the scoring for the Redmen.

TerVeen has seen steady improvement with his team. " Shelby is unbeaten in the league and beat us by 30 strokes at Galion two weeks ago, so to play that well Tuesday night says a lot about how hard the kids have been working to improve their games," TerVeen said.

Bellevue will host Tiffin Columbian on Thursday at 4:15.
