Mrs. Giles Ray died at her home on North Ridge on Tuesday morning last, aged about 42 years.
The grain elevator at Vickery, Townsend Township, will be sold at public sale by the Sheriff of Sandusky County, on Saturday, June 23rd, at the door of the courthouse in Fremont. This is a very desirable property, appraised at $2,850 and is a bargain for somebody. D.A. Heffner, receiver of the Clyde Banking Co. has charge of the property, and it is sold on a judgment in his favor as receiver.

D.E. Fuller and James H. Baker, accompanied by a party of friends, launched their new boat at Dewdrop. The boat, just completed by H.M. Howard was a trim little craft, 19 feet long, with 7 1/2 foot beam, sloop rigged.

Taylor Fuller and Orlin Harrison had a narrow escape from severe injuries. On their way home from the Fuller farm northeast of town, Mr. Fuller, driver of a Ford car, turned to look behind him and the machine went down an embankment, demolishing the car. They were unhurt.
Jake Martin received a severe injury to his knee while riding a bicycle to work at the Cutlery works. When he went over the bridge on Maple Street the front wheel turned and threw him against the bridge, and one of the bolts ran into his knee.

Walter J. Brown, 49, died as the result of an accident at Clyde Cutlery Co.
Daughters were born to Mr. and Mrs. Hal Shaull, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kistler, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Van Ness, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Bodeman and Mr. and Mrs. James Broad; and a son to Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Goetz.

John C. Ashton, Captain of the Clyde Police Department for six years, was appointed chief of the 11-man force to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Chief Lawrence Dickman.
A beautiful painting entitled "Long Ago and Far Away", painted in gouache water colors by Thelma Frazier Winter of Cleveland, was presented to Clyde Public Library in memory of Mrs. Bessie Neipp, local librarian from 1928 to 1942. The gift was given by her children Mrs. Corrine E. Sweet, Howard S. Neipp and Mrs. Esther U. Woods and memorial funds contributed by friends.
A pair of beautiful seven-branched candelabra was presented to the First Methodist Church in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Neipp by their children Mrs. Norman Sweet, Howard Neipp and Mrs. Ed Woods. The service of dedication was attended by Mrs. Sweet and Mrs. Woods.
Daughters were born to Mr. and Mrs. James Pocock and Mr. and Mrs. Troy Smith; and a son to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Taggart.
Local deaths reported were: Joseph Allen Gee, 3, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Gee, who had undergone open heart surgery; Edgar H. Dirlam, 45; Joseph Hodgkinson; Earl McConnell, 64; and Mrs. Matey Walters MacGregor.

Announcement was made of the closing of Balduf's Bakery due to the health of Ralph Rogers, who had operated the bakery for many years.
The First United Methodist Church purchased the Walter Taylor property on W. Maple St. for use as the parsonage.
John Becker received the President's Cup for the highest scholastic achievement in the junior class of Alma College.
Daughters were born to Mr. and Mrs. Howard Carter and Mr. and Mrs. Mark Wott; and sons to Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Mann, Mr. and Mrs. John McElfresh and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Lamb.

City Council heard a request for money from Clyde Community Council to purchase 30 new Christmas decorations for the business area.
Michael Brock, 17, drowned off Mouse Island while on a swimming and fishing outing.
Clyde Police Chief Glenn Dick resigned after 29 years on the force. He had been Chief the last ten years.

Cliff Doebel, owner of Doebel's Flowers on U.S. Route 20, brought Leonard Crow Dog, a Sioux Indian medicine man, to Clyde for a special ceremonial Indian rain dance to help bring much needed rain to the Clyde area to end the drought. Crow Dog is from Rosebud Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
Clyde, Ohio, was featured in the NY Times in the June 5, Sunday edition in an article about the Midwest. Writer William Serrin, former Times reporter and avid Civil War collector, and his wife were passing through Clyde on a tour of the Midwest, and discovered General McPherson's roots here, and also Sherwood Anderson's connections to Clyde.
A golden Eagle was raised to the cupola on the roof of Heritage Hall during the final activity of Clyde's 1787 Celebration Committee.
A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Eric Fintel; and a son to Mr. and Mrs. Greg Storer.

Clyde Police have no new leads in the May 21 kidnapping of a Green Springs child. Local police initially investigated a possible suspect who had been charged in two child sexual assault cases in Toledo. The local victim did not identify that suspect in a line up as being the man who kidnapped her from in front of her babysitter's home on Duane Street.
Elidia Webb is suing Clyde-Green Springs Schools for an unspecified amount in United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio in Toledo. Webb filed a complaint against the school district claiming age and race discrimination. Webb, 43, had sought a position with Clyde High School as a cheerleading advisor.
A son was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jim Roesch.

The Clyde High School Class of 2007 held its Awards and Scholarship ceremony on May 25. Seniors received $2.8 million in scholarships and awards.
Seniors Meghan Gill and Stephanie Meyer and sophomore Lindsay Smetzler traveled to the 33rd Annual Girl's State Track and Field Tournament June 1 and 2. Gill finished fourth with a jump of 5'5".
