Selvey joins RFD club

The RFD Garden Club met on May 20, at the home of Mary Gillmor with 11 members present.

President, Erma Smith, brought the meeting to order. New member, Marge Selvey, was welcomed into the club.

Roll call was answered by naming a favorite annual flower. The secretary's report and the treasurer's report were read and approved.

An invitation from the Attica Garden Club was read inviting us to attend their guest night. Kathy Foster gave the horticulture report on black flowers.

Sandy Kessler reported that the bus is full for the club's trip to Kingwood Center in June. Bill Jenne announced that Mary Gillmor will be receiving the Outstanding Amateur Gardener award at the state convention in July.

Plans were made for working on the planters in Green Springs. Rita Vallimont read the poem "A Special Wish" by Virginia Richardson. The meeting was adjourned.

For the program Bill Jenne gave a review of the book "The Perennial Gardener's Design Primer." The book was passed around for each member to view. Refreshments were served by Mary Ellen Birch.
