set for mid-July

Construction on West Buckeye Street is running a head of schedule, according to City Manager Dan Weaver.

Beheler Construction is completing Phase II of a $1.4 million project to separate the sanitary and storm sewers on the street between Mulberry and Main streets.

Phase one was completed from Mulberry to halfway to George Street in 2006, which the contractor returning this year to complete restoration on the grass areas.

In Phase II between last year's project and George Streets, Beheler Construction could be finished by mid-July, Weaver said Monday.

Last week the company was installing a subsurface and curbing. This week, weather permitting, sidewalks will be installed and subsurface paving could begin, the city manager said.

The next phase of the project slated for 2009 will be to upgrade and widen the section of the street between George and Main streets in the downtown block.
