MMS students save $2,800
in money management class
McPherson Middle School Money Management Students, along with cooperation with the Clyde-Findlay Area Credit Union, competed as individuals and as classes to see who can save the most money over a 10 week period. The classes welcomed Dana Hudson and Mae Gasa from Clyde-Findlay Area Credit Union who presented information on checking accounts, expenses and the value of money. They provided a hands-on exercise to show how a checking account works, savings trivia and the various issues that deal with checking accounts.
The class that saved the most money was rewarded with a Subway Lunch, while the leading "saver" in each class was presented with two one day passes to Cedar Point.
The classes save over $2,800 during the 10 week period.
This is the first year for "Money Management" at McPherson Middle School. Money Management is a personal finance class that is taught by Matthew Flewelling that focuses on spending habits and touches on the different aspects of personal finance.
