Log Cabin

The Log Cabin Entertainment proudly presents the Oak Harbor High School Jazz Band to the porch. The Jazz band, under the direction of high school band instructor, Travis Magoto, will perform a variety of musical pieces for the Oak Harbor community and friends on Sunday, June 22 at 6:30 PM.

The band will perform for the hour to some hand clapping, foot stomping memorable song titles. The band will remember the newly retired band director, Mrs. Beth Witt, and wish her well. Once again mark your calendars for this Sunday. Rootbeer floats and popcorn will be available for your snacking enjoyment.

Hall open

The Carroll Township Hall, located on West Toussaint East Road at the north end of Behlman road, will be open to the public from 1:00 until 4:00 on Saturday, June 21. The building, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, has displays and documents relating to the history of the township.

Golf scramble

The Sons of American Legion Post #114, Oak Harbor is sponsoring the 15th annual Golf Scramble on June 29, 2008 at oak Harbor Golf Club with an 8:00 a.m. Shotgun Start priced at $60.00 per man or $240 per team.

This includes a pork chop dinner and beverage tickets. Prizes will be awarded with 1st-$240, $120 and 3rd-$60.00. Skill hole, prize drawings and 50/50 drawing. Skins game (by the golf course-100%payout.) Sign up at The American Legion Hall, located at 221 Park St. in Oak Harbor, open Friday 4 to 8 p.m. This event is open to the public. Panning Commission meeting

The Village of Oak Harbor Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on June 30th at 7:30 p.m. in the Oak Harbor Village Council Chambers at 146 Church St.

Comments will be heard regarding the proposed re-zoning of property (Block 2, Lot 1 Original & 1/2 Vacated Ally; Block 2, Lots 2,3,4 Original) located between Jefferson and Townline Streets, west of Church Street. Property is currently zoned R-3 (Residential.)

Applicant is requesting to re-zone this property to HI (Heavy Industrial) to allow a commercial building to be built.

Olde' Tyme Independence Day Celebration

The Oak Harbor Area Chamber of Commerce invites families to the Olde' Tyme Independence Day Celebration on July 5, 2008. The festivities will include fun for the family with a car show, inflatables, entertainment for all ages, food and beverages for children and adults along the scenic Portage River. Festivities begin with the opening ceremonies at 4:00 p.m. and will continue throughout the evening. Music with Jerry Wittman and Friends from 7:30 - 10:30 followed by a spectacular fireworks show beginning at dusk.

Chicken barbecue

Erie Twp. Volunteer Fire Department in LaCarne, Ohio will be holding their 40th annual chicken barbecue on June 29, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Erie Twp. Fire Station. Donation is 1/2 chicken for $7.00. Drive thru and carry out will be available.
