Bring friends, family to Pettisville for Friendship Days this weekend
PETTISVILLE - It's time for Pettisville's every-other-year summertime festival, Friendship Days. It will be held Friday, June 27 through Sunday, June 29.
The Family BBQ runs from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the park pavilion, serving full dinners for carryout or dining at the park. The Auction starts at 5 p.m., and features hundreds of new items donated by area businesses. Friday evening at 8:30 p.m., the Friendship Quilt, made by community volunteers, will be auctioned. There will be several inflatable games to keep the kids occupied throughout the festival.
Sports events will fill the Saturday activities. Registration for the 5K race starts at 7 a.m. The kid's run starts at 7:45 a.m. and the 5K road race begins at 8 a.m.
Blackbird Specials, pancakes and sausages will be served in the pavilion from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m. There is a 3-on-3 basketball tourney and fishing derby which will register at 8 a.m. Plenty of large catfish will be stocked. Dodgeball takes off at 11 a.m. There will be a family health and safety fair.
The LifeFlight air ambulance is scheduled for a landing on the track infield at 11 a.m. There's a hole-in one golf contest, kids pedal pull and carnival games throughout the afternoon. A cornhole competition commences at 3 p.m.
"Dinner in the Park" Saturday evening features beef brisket with the trimmings; dinners will be served from 5 to 7 p.m. The inflatable games, including an obstacle course, will stay open until 9 p.m. A movie is set to run from 7 to 10 p.m.
Saturday evening under the main tent will be a reverse raffle. The three main cash prizes will be presented around 10 p.m.
Sunday morning, the park will host a community worship service at 11 a.m., followed by a potluck lunch.
There will be three large tents to house many of the events at the park, as the festival takes place rain or shine. Proceeds from this community project go towards maintenance and development of Pettisville Park.
