Haller named parade grand marshal

The Christmas in Swanton Committee has announced that Pastor Brian Haller of Faith Lutheran Church will serve as this year's Christmas in Swanton Parade Grand Marshal. He will lead the parade, which is themed Parade of Trees, on Dec. 5.

Christmas in Swanton will kick-off at the Elks Lodge on N. Main St, where a hot breakfast will be served from 7-10 a.m. Lunch will be available to purchase at the high school after the parade.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. and will feature marching bands, floats, horses and some of children's favorite characters. If you would like to participate in the parade, contact Alan and Missy Schory at (419) 290-6336.

The craft show and sale will begin at 10 a.m. and will be open until 4 p.m. Crafters from all over the region will be selling creative and unique holiday gifts. The craft show will be at Swanton High School.

Santa will be available to listen to holiday wishes in the high school auditorium 11 a.m. -1 p.m. and again from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Santa's visit is hosted by the Swanton Fire Department.

The Friends of the Swanton Public Library will sponsor a Magic Show at 1 p.m. in the auditorium.

Christmas in Swanton will once again feature a food drive hosted by the OURCCL. Non-perishable food items will be accepted at all schools the week prior to and at the high school the day of the event. All donations will go to the Swanton Food Pantry.

Many other activities will be going on at the high school throughout the day including children's crafts, a model train display by Swanton Model Train Club and an ice carving demonstration by Ice Creations at 2 p.m.

On Sunday, Dec. 6, festivities will continue with the Holiday Home Tour, a self- guided tour of six beautifully-decorated Swanton homes. The tours will last from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Tickets for the tour are available at the Library for $10 each.

Look for more information on the Holiday Home Tour in upcoming issues of the Enterprise.
